Relegated Forest Green ended their away season on a high note with a League Two comeback victory over Morecambe at the Mazuma Stadium.

First-half goals from Charlie McCann and Kyle McAllister gave Steve Cotterill's side a 10th league win of the season as Morecambe fell to an eighth defeat in 10 games.

The home side were gifted the opener after 30 minutes as Rovers goalkeeper Vicente Reyes failed to control a Jordan Moore-Taylor back pass and gave Charlie Brown the chance to slide in and put the ball into the back of the net from close range.

Cotterill's side bounced back quickly and levelled seven minutes later with an excellent goal. McAllister cut in from the right and threaded a ball through to McCann, who calmly stroked the ball past Archie Mair from eight yards out.

The goal gave the visitors a lift and they took the lead just before half-time with another well-worked goal.

The lively McAllister was played in after a neat exchange of passes and squeezed his shot past Mair's left hand from just inside the box.

Both teams traded chances at the start of the second half with Emmanuel Osadebe denied by David Tutonda's superb block at one end and Gwion Edwards foiled by a superb low save from Reyes at the other.

Christian Doidge and McAllister wasted glorious chances to add to Forest Green's scoreline in the final moments but the win was secured.

    Glad to hear that Dale Vince is sticking with Steve Cotterill

    Vince has also pledged to " move heaven and earth" to restore FGR to wining ways again..

    But does he realise what a huge project it is to move heaven and earth , particularly when you have no access to oil-powered machinery

    Dale Vince is obviously a shrewd business man but overestimated his football knowledge. After Rob Edwards masterminded FGR into L1 there were 4 unsuccessful managers in 2 seasons - Birchnall, Ferguson, Horsman and Deeley, all with little or no experience of EFL. Stick with Cotterill who does.

    As a ST holder I just refused to attend today. I’ve got better things to do with my time than watch my club being run into the ground by the mismanagement of the owner. To think my ST money would go to payoff the rip off interest rates he charges the club for money he puts in means until we have new owners I won’t be going again.
    Sad reality is we’ll end up in administration.

    Season can't end quickly enough seems like we have run out of steam. Just 2 wins in the last 10 simply not good enough. Hopefully the transfer embargo will be lifted ASAP and then we can start the merry-go-round of signing 20 players who Hopefully can keep us up next season 🤞let's enjoy the summer and then get back to business in August and still with a team to support 🦐🦐🦐

    Excellent result FGR but L2 and NL should be reformed as North and South. Too many resources wasted on travel for teams and fans who can't afford it.
